What do you have planned God?

11:27 pm in Uncategorized by Alex

God has a plan for everyone’s life. I like to think of it as Him writing my life story. In my story, God sent me to college at Vincennes University. I had initially planned on only staying here for one year and then transferring somewhere else, like Ball State or Purdue. Well that doesn’t seem to be in God’s plan. You see there is a difference between what we, as people want, and what God wants. We need to focus on what God wants, rather than what we desire and yearn for. I understand that God had a plan for me, I just think of it as a surprise!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
– Jeremiah 29:11

Recently I thought that it was in God’s plan for me to join the Peace Corps The idea to apply came after my pastor gave a sermon on listening to what God wants you to do and then doing it. Joining didn’t happen though, got a letter in the mail today. “Learn French or Spanish and apply again later.” That was basically the gist of it. I’m already majoring in German, and my teacher told me the last week (she teaches French too) that she thinks I should take French next year! What a coincidence! Guess I’m staying at Vincennes a little longer than I planned. Those plans that I made were not God’s plans though. I think maybe I was always going to stay here for two years. Don’t try and make your own plans, just pray and pray and pray. Listen to what God wants you to do and then do it! Take up your cross and follow Him. As long as you’re following Him, there is no doubt in my mind that you will be able to do anything!

“If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me. If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the good news, you will find true life.”
Mark 8:34-35

Praise God for Martin Luther King Jr.

7:43 pm in Uncategorized by Justin

Today we celebrate a holiday named after a man who fought against injustice.  I am grateful for what MLK Jr. did to help bring about equality for the black race.  We have made much progress over the past few several years, but there is still more to be done.  Let’s pray that God will heal the hearts of those affected by racial prejudice.

YAY 2010!!

4:35 pm in Uncategorized by Alex

So it’s a new year, a new decade even!! I know I’ve made my New Year’s resolutions, have you? I’ve decided that I’m going to stop trying to control everything, and let God figure it all out (that’s really all I can do, but I’m not going to try to control every little thing anymore.) So let’s hear them! What are your New Year’s resolutions?
To lose 20 pounds and get in shape? Or maybe to get better grades in school? To quit smoking? or to learn something new? How about to get organized? I want to hear all of your’s!

Seeking God,
Alex

Mediocrity

8:15 am in Quote, Uncategorized by Justin

The world blesses the greats of secularism; God blesses the great of faith, but nobody blesses the mediocre. If you don’t serve God with excellence, then you are sitting on the fence. Get off the fence!

Well that’s it for right now. :-)

BUSY

Please pray for me.  I have just started working at Wal-Mart (about 30 work hours a week) and it is going to be challenging for me to balance my job and my schoolwork.
